Roundtable in Anbar on the misuse of pesticides and its effects on health and the environment

For a Greener Land: The Green Table Builds Solutions for a Secure Agricultural Future!

As part of enhancing the capacities of local organizations and addressing environmental challenges in Iraq, the Civil Society Services Center in Anbar organized the sixth roundtable to discuss the misuse of agricultural pesticides and their impacts on health and the environment. The meeting saw extensive participation from environmental experts, representatives of relevant government agencies, and civil society organizations, during which ideas and practical solutions were exchanged to reduce risks and promote the safe use of pesticides.

The session featured in-depth discussions on successful experiences in implementing sustainable agricultural policies, with a strong focus on raising awareness among farmers and adopting practices that align with environmental protection. The participants produced concrete recommendations that will be reviewed by the Ministry of Agriculture and subsequently distributed to 23 Agricultural Advisory Centers in Al-Anbar, with the aim of supporting the transition toward sustainable agriculture.

The #UPP works with Al Mesalla to empower local CSOs in Iraq through TATWEER project funded by the European Union and in partnership with local NGOs (Alnajah Center for Training&Development in Basra and Shakoufyan Organization in Anbar).
