With the support of the #UPP and in coordination with the Al-Aghsan Foundation for Agricultural and Environmental Development, the Climate Working Group held its coordination meeting with the participation of the Ministry of Environment and a number of local organizations in Baghdad Governorate. The meeting addressed three main topics: The first topic featured an intervention by the Ministry of Environment on mitigation indicators and climate impacts. The Ministry delivered a presentation on key mitigation indicators and essential data related to climate effects across various sectors, the second topic focused on the “Green Vision” initiative by the Al-Aghsan Foundation for Agricultural and Environmental Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture / Department of Forestry and Desertification Control and The third topic discussed water use policies in Maysan Governorate, presented by the International Water Institute.
The session concluded with several key recommendations, including the need to strengthen cooperation among various stakeholders involved in environmental and agricultural affairs in Iraq, the importance of developing strategic plans to address climate challenges and promote environmental and agricultural sustainability, and the necessity of raising awareness about the effective management of water resources to ensure their long-term sustainability.
