The Civil Society Service Center in Erbil organized a legal session and roundtable in the Sulaymaniyah governorate, in coordination with the Social Security Directorate in Sulaymaniyah and in the presence of a representative from the legal department, along with the participation of representatives from several local organizations in the governorate.
The session discussed “the legal procedures for registering employees of civil society organizations with the Social Security Directorate,” and addressed the following topics: the concept of social security according to the applicable law in the Kurdistan Region, the categories covered under the social security system and the mechanisms for their inclusion, the percentage of contributions and their distribution in accordance with legal requirements, the years of service required for retirement and the associated benefits, procedures related to the termination of contracts for employees in organizations, leaves granted to female employees of organizations during pregnancy, the related rights, and the legal responsibilities of employers.
The session aimed to enhance the awareness of civil society organizations regarding the legal procedures and obligations related to social security, ensuring their implementation in a way that safeguards the rights of employees. The session also provided an opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of experiences regarding the challenges organizations face in this field.
